Arts integration and STEAM are approaches that integrate arts with subject areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, English language arts, English language development, social studies, and physical education. LACOE provides assistance to districts and schools in delivering systematic, sustainable, high quality, standards-based arts & STEAM education for all students. In alignment with the National Core Arts Standards, "the arts" encompases all disciplines of dance, media arts, music, theatre and visual arts.

Poetry Out Loud

An annual recitation of classical poetry by high school students. Contestants compete in a virtual event hosted by LACOE and the winner advances to the California state contest to compete for a spot in the National Poetry Outloud finals in May. Learn more...

 

Very Special Arts Festival

An annual, inclusive event celebrating the artistic achievements of students with all abilities presented through a partnership between The Music Center, Los Angeles Unified School District and LACOE.
